Facial Toner
Rejuvenate and make your face look younger with facial toner
Facial toner helps to rejuvenate and make your skin feel taut and younger. Aging and environmental conditions such as weather change, pollutions and harmful UV rays can cause the face and other part of our body to sag prematurely. One of the negative effects of exposure to these conditions is epidermal cells gradually lose their capacity to produce new cells while the dermis, that produces collagen,
loses its elasticity. Eventually, this causes skin to become dry and wrinkles start to appear on the face.
Facial toners can be used to clean the last traces of oil from the skin. Toner is usually applied to remove the final trace of make up to make skin feel clean and fresh. They cannot actually close or open pores as some manufacturers claim - pores are openings for the sebaceous glands and cannot be closed from the outside.
Modern formulations of facial toners are becoming more sophisticated, with some offering soothing and anti-aging benefit, and even whitening agents. This type of toner usually contains exfoliating chemicals or lotion that can make your skin look more radiant by dissolving dead skin surface cells.
How to use facial toner
Use astringent lotions with a piece of cotton wool but if your skin is looking worn off and tired, pat facial toner on with a brisk slapping movement or dabbing motion.
Moisten cotton wool with skin toning lotion and pat on the cheeks, chin and, don't forget, the neck.
If you have normal, combination or dry skin, use very delicate and light preparation to refresh the skin. Never use a harsh astringent lotion for this purpose. Rose water-based product is preferred.
For dry skin use rose water diluted with mineral water. Apply it gently with cotton wool avoiding the eye and upper cheek area completely.
For combination skin, light toning lotion should be used all over the face, except for the eye area. Then apply the astringent on the greasy areas with cotton wool. Never let the astringent spill over the dry cheek and eye areas.
Oily-skinned people should tone with an astringent lotion, applying particularly to the oiliest places, i.e. sides of the nose, chin and forehead.
Astringents facial toner usually have high level of alcohol that may irritate sensitive dry skin because of its drying effect. Your need to consult a dermatologist or beautician as this type of facial toner can aggravate acne-prone skin by causing an increase in skin's oil production.
