The other 2 proven acne treatment are Retin-A and Roaccutane. Retin-A is a imitation of retinoic acid, the naturally occurring form of vitamin A found in skin. Its main action is keratolytic, which act as a peeling agent that loosen dead surface cells. Retin-A is a very powerful drug tat only needs to be applied in very small dosage. Roaccutane is a synthetic version of vitamin A, this oral treatment can be taken once or twice a day for four months. It is extremely effective but the side effect is increased skin sensitivity. This oral acne treatment is known to cause birth defect and very strict birth control needs to be practiced while taking roaccutane. It is important to note that oral acne skin treatment is reserved for more persistant cases of acne and should only be taken under medical supervision.
