Causes Of Acne

 


The exact causes of acne cannot be pinpoint.  A number of factors seem to have an effect acne problem these include:

  • Hormones

  • Diet

  • Stress

Hormones

Hormones is one of the known causes of acne.  Throughout our life hormones will play a very important roles in determining the ups and downs of your skin.  Oestrogen is an important skin regulator, and an excess in male hormones can cause acne.  Men and women both produce male hormones (androgen and testosterone), and female hormones oestrogen and progesterone.  The only difference is the ratio of these hormones differ between sexes.  When level of androgen increase during puberty, ovulation, menstruation and childbirth the skin produce more oils and can result in acne.

Diet

Diet can be the cause of acne for some people.  Common culprits include caffeine, nuts, high fate and spicy foods, refined foods, dairy product and food high in iodide content such as artichokes, seaweed, spinach and shell fish.

Stress.

Stress can triggers the adrenal glands to release the hormone cortisol which increase the secretion of sebum.  Stress induce include not enough sleep, skipping meals, and ingesting too much caffeine can trigger your body to mobilized stored nutrients, which in turn slows down the natural exfoliation process of skin.  Stressful lifestyle is not only the cause of acne but also the reason for premature aging.
